I’ve been woodshedding masses of paradiddle variations over the last week or so, so some Bill Bruford seemed in order. The restless, lopsided kick drums in ‘nerve’ are just gorgeous.

i stumbled over the bugge wesseltoft on a late night youtube skirmish – have a butchers at some of his videos. some of his contact miced piano playing is really cool.

and no playlist would be complete without some metal, which doesn’t come much heavier than meshuggah’s ‘obzen’. hard as nails and then some. so, enjoy!

the briefest of chance conversations with a cellist at a wedding brought a performance by the elysian quartet in the small hours of the morning at truck festival 2009 floating back up.

the hope and social tune has been flogged mercilessly on my ipod this week – a good 15+ times. (i think bits of venice are still infused with the song, despite flying home this thursday to teaching prep, wedding music and rain!)

the others just popped into my ears seemingly from nowhere.
